BE Instrumentation Technology

About BE Instrumentation Technology

Instrumentation engineering is a specialised branch of electrical and electronics engineering. It primarily focuses on the principle and operation of measuring instruments, which are used in the design and configuration of automated systems. Instrumentation and control engineering requires sound knowledge of mathematics, physics, electronics, chemistry and process control. Instrumentation is the technology of creating, constructing and maintaining the measuring and control devices and systems found in manufacturing plants and research institutions. The discipline is also the basis of mechatronics and robotics engineering.

Aspirants having completed B.Tech (Instrumentation and Control Engineering) can go with higher education courses like M.E in Applied Instrumentation, M.Sc in Instrumentation Technology or M.Tech in Control Systems and Instrumentation.
Instrumentation engineers typically work for industries with automated processes, such as chemical or manufacturing plants, with the goal of improving system productivity, reliability, safety, optimisation and stability. The control of processes is one of the main branches of applied instrumentation.

Eligibility: For B.E/B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering and Management engineering, a candidate is required to pass 10+2 with physics, chemistry and maths as compulsory subjects with 45% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

Scope:
Instrumentation engineering is one of the most sought after branches today when it comes to engineering courses. It is also a field in demand. Covering the Design, Configuration and Automation of various systems, Instrumentation is one of the most all-encompassing fields of engineering. Picking Instrumentation as your area of specialization can indeed bring high dividends throughout your career. Instrumentation engineers are usually employed in organizations to improve efficiency, stability and safety of automated processes. The job of these engineers is to take care of the design, production and maintenance of instrumentation systems used in manufacturing related activities. They also play a major role in ensuring efficiency and quality of manufactured goods. They work in an array of industrial sectors including Public/Private firms, R&D organizations, steel plants, cement manufacturing companies, Thermal power plants, Chemical companies and the like. Apart from being employed by companies that manufacture diverse instruments, these engineers are also hired by companies that utilize specialized instruments for their day-to-day operations.
