BE Electrical and Electronics Engineering

About BE Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Electrical engineering is the study and application of electrical systems. Electricity is an integral part of our lives and basic need for survival. The later half of the 19th century saw an emergence of electric telegraph, the telephone, and electric power and its distribution widely. In today’s modern world, this field has seen major improvements with diverse and wide array of subjects or subfields which include electronics, digital computers, power engineering, telecommunications, control systems, RF engineering, and signal processing. Electrical and Electronics engineers design, develop, test as well supervise the assembly of electrical and electronic equipment and machinery. Broadcast and telecommunication systems, electric motors, controls of machinery, lights and wiring in building complexes, vehicles, aircraft, radar and navigation systems, power generation, control and transmission devices which are used by electric utilities are all examples of equipment built by these engineers.

Eligibility criteria: Entry to Electrical and Electronics Engineering requires passing 10+2 with PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) with 45% in aggregate. Students also need to appear for various entrance exams like AIEEE or any state level exam. One can also opt for a diploma in engineering from a polytechnic. For obtaining a diploma, the basic eligibility is completion of Class 10 with 45% marks. The duration of these diploma courses is three-years for regular and four-years for part-time study. Diploma holders can also get direct entry into the second year of a graduate program (lateral entry).
