Pharm. D course
A pass in any of the following examinations –
(1) 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Mathematics or Biology.
(2) A pass in D.Pharm course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.
(3) Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations.
Provided that a student should complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the course.
duration of the course
The duration of the course shall be six academic years (five years of study and one year of internship or residency) full time with each academic year spread over a period of not less than two hundred working days. The period of six years duration is divided into two phases –
Phase I – consisting of First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth academic year. Phase II – consisting of internship or residency training during sixth year involving posting in specialty units. It is a phase of training wherein a student is exposed to actual pharmacy practice or clinical pharmacy services and acquires skill under supervision so that he or she may become capable of functioning independently.
B Pharm Course
Candidates who have passed 10+2 examination with physics and chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the mathematics / computer science / biotechnology / biology. obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.
Candidates who have passed D.Pharm course approved by pharmacy council of India shall also be eligible to this course and shall be admitted directly to iii semester.
The course of study for B.Pharm shall extend over a period of four academic years and three academic years for those admitted to iii semester directly.
Industrial Tour and Training:
Every candidate shall undergo practical training in pharmaceutical manufacturing house/ approved hospital/CSIR research labs for a period of not less than one hundred and fifty hours to be covered in not less than 45 days after completing VI semester or viii semester. Candidate should submit two copies of the training report duly certificated by the authorities of the training center in which he/she has undergone training duly accepted and certified by the head of the department.
Candidates studying in final year of the course shall visit several pharmaceutical manufacturing houses as a supplement to their academic training and submit a report to the satisfaction of the head of department where he/she has studied.
a candidate who has passed B.Pharm degree examination of KLE university or B.Pharm examination of any other recognized Indian university established by law in India or any other degree courses in pharmacy recognized as equivalent by KLE university or pharmacy council of India.(PCI) and/or all India council of technical education (a I.C.T.E,) for this purpose and who has secured not less than 50% of the maximum marks (aggregate of four years) prescribed for the qualifying examination shall be eligible for admission to the M.Pharm course. for SC / ST / CATEGORY-I (Karnataka) candidates a pass in B.Pharm examination is eligible.
The course of study including submission of dissertation on the topic registered shall be of 24 months (two years) duration from the commencement of academic term.
Course of study:
The study of M.Pharm course shall be of annual system that includes M.Pharm part-I, extending for twelve months from the commencement of academic term and M.Pharm part-ii of twelve months duration. at the end of M.Pharm part-I, there shall be a university examination for M.Pharm part-I. At the end of M.Pharm part-II, the candidate shall submit a dissertation on the topic approved by the university.
Ph. D Programme in Pharmaceutical Science:
Eligibility for admissions:
The candidates who have obtained master’s degree (M.Pharm) with 50% marks from KLE institutions or a pg degree from any other university considered as equivalent by KLE University are eligible for enrolment/ registration for Ph.D program in this university.
Course of Study:
The duration of the programme shall be for a minimum period of two/three years and a maximum of four/five years from the date of registration for full time/ part time scholars respectively.
