The Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore was started as a private Medical college in the year 1955 by Mysore Education Society. The Founders of this Society were  Dr. R. Shivaram, Dr. Mekhri, Dr. B.K. Narayana Rao and Dr. B.V. Ramaswamy. In the year 1957 it was handed over to the then Government of Mysore and was affiliated to Mysore University and then on to the Bangalore University. In the year 1996 it got affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

The Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore has MCI recognition for Undergraduate 150 seats  + 100 seats admitted under 10A of MCI rules, 135 Postgraduate Masters Degree, 71 Diploma seats, {MS Anatomy, MD Physiology, MD Biochemistry, MD Pharmacology, MD Pathology, MD Microbiology, MD P & SM, MD Forensic Medicine,MS Ophthalmology,   MS ENT, MS Orthopedics, MD Anesthesiology, MD Paediatrics, MD Gen. Medicine, MD Gen. Surgery, MD OBG, MD Radio Diagnosis, MD Radio Therapy, MD Psychiatry, MD Skin & V.D} and  Super Specialty seats for M.Ch Urology, M.Ch Plastic Surgery, M.Ch Paediatric Surgery is recognised by MCI. DM Neurology, M.Ch Surgical Gastroenterology admitted under 10A of MCI rules.

The Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore has Fellowship programmes in Vitreo Retina, Surgical Gastroenterology, Neurology, Cornea & External diseases of Eye, Cosmetic Dermatology,Glaucoma, Paediatric Dermatology, Paediatric Anaesthesiology, Accident Trauma & Emergency Care, Community Ophthalmology  and Dermato Surgery with 2 seats each. Para-medical courses are Medical lab technician, X-ray technician, Medical record technician, Health inspector, Ophthalmology, Operation Theatre Technician simultaneously being run in the Institution and also Allied science like B.Sc Medical lab technician and B.Sc Operation Theatre Technician  are also running by the institution.

Courses – M.B.B.S

Under Graduate CourseMBBS

Intake : 250 seats
Admission Procedure :

The students are selected from Karnataka-CET exams-85% and All India exams-15%.50% of seats are reserved for SC, ST and OBCs.

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test and Aptitude Test is being conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates to the First year or First semester of full time courses in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy, Naturopathy & Yoga, Engineering, Technology and Architecture courses, in institutions within the State of Karnataka.
Admissions to the Government seats shall be made in accordance with the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Professional Institutions Rules, (in short ‘Rules’) as amended from time to time. In case of any discrepancy, the Rules shall prevail.
The candidates from outside Karnataka can also write the Common Entrance Test. However, the seats in Government / University / Aided courses in aided colleges will not be offered to such candidates. As regards seats in un-aided colleges, the details of seats available, if any, and the procedure of allotment, if seats are available, will be notified subsequently and will be subject to the above condition.

Age:
For admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy / Yoga courses, have completed the age of 17 years as on 31st December of the year of the admission.

Educational Qualification:
For Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy / Yoga courses, have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or equivalent exam with PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY & BIOLOGY as optional subjects with ENGLISH as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 50% marks in the PCB group. 40% in the case of SC / ST / Category-1 candidates provided that for Dental course, the candidate must have secured 50% marks in the optional subjects including English subject.

Application Form
: Candidates who have studied or studying their 2nd PUC or 12th standard in educational institutions within Karnataka should get their brochure with application forms by submitting a demand draft for Rs.550/- to the Principals of the institutions in which they had studied or studying or appeared for the 2nd PUC or 12th standard examination. The Karnataka candidates who have studied or studying 12th standard or intermediate or pre-degree or equivalent examination outside Karnataka (including Horanadu, Gadinadu & other Karnataka candidates), can get the brochure with application only through ‘Speed Post’, directly from the CET Cell, by sending a cloth lined self-addressed envelope of 25 cms x 30 cms size and a demand draft for Rs. 650/- drawn in favour of the “Special Officer, CET Cell, Bangalore” payable at Bangalore and Karnataka candidates residing outside India can get the brochures by sending a demand.

 

Post Graduate Course

Admission Procedure:

The Admission will be filled up of 50 % seats through State Entrance Examination which will be conducted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and 50% of seats will be filled up by All India Entrance Examination conducted by Director General of Health Services, (Medical Examination Cell) New Delhi on merit basis. Documents required to be submitted at the time of admission:

  1. Seat Allotment letter by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences / Director General of Health Services.
  2. Final MBBS Marks Cards (Part-1, Part-2).
  3. Internship Completion Certificate.
  4. Concerned State Medical Registration Certificate.
  5. Degree Certificate / Provisional Degree Certificate.
  6. Attempt Certificate.
  7. 10th or Equivalent Examination Marks card for age proof.
  8. Rs. 100/- Bond Papers (Bond matter given at the end of this sheet).
  9. Migration / Transfer Certificate.
  10. Eligibility Certificate for Other University Candidates which will be issued by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
  11. Medical Fitness Certificate.
